BMW 2018 model leaked

Image
Heaven forbid BMW ever makes a full size truck, because the kidney grills on the ugly mug of this leaked 2018 BMW X7 concept are quite disturbing and don’t scale up very well. BMW finally wised up and delivered a large, three-row SUV. Despite having almost no effect on our sort of folk, BMW has finally made the obvious move it has waited so long—literally decades—to deliver on. The 2018 BMW X7 has been so obviously missing from its lineup, and now it’s leaked over on Bimmerpost just a couple of days before its reveal ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show. It appears to have a port for charging, so we can safely assume there will be a hybrid model. The door handles look really confusing. The overall design is just the latest BMW-concept go-to look awkwardly stretched a few hundred pixels. And those look like a third set of headrests back there. There’s been an option for three rows on the X5 before, but true luxury rests in those few short extra inches added to the...

Toyota set to manufacture a flying car

Image
wonderfulengineering.com Sep 12, 2017 12:01 PM Aeromobil. Credits: Terrafugia In the 70’s and 80’s, mobile phones were a magical concept that we saw only in the movies. After a few decades, now we have smartphones, laptops, tablets, and so many other things that seemed fictional to the last generation. Those same movies also had flying cars, and this concept is in vogue since the 20th century, especially in the sci-fi genre. Still, producing the lovechild of an automobile and an aircraft has not been successful yet, despite the constant efforts of companies like Terrafugia. Aeromobil (Credits: Terrafugia) Toyota, the world’s top automaker, filed the patent for “Aerocar,” and it has rekindled the hope of flying cars while thrusting the subject into the limelight. Well, not exactly a flying car, but a unique technology for the flying cars that includes stackable wing system to make flying possible. Toyota has clarified that it is not working on a holistic flying car b...

Tecno Mobile Is Working On A Smartphone With 6GB RAM - Tecno AX8

Image
Tecno Mobile seems to be working on a high-end smartphone with 6GB RAM according to information found on the Geekbench Database.  The phone is yet to go through FCC certification so I can't actually give you the full specs. The device is dubbed the "Tecno AX8".  According to the listing, the Tecno AX8 will be powered by Mediatek’s Helio P25 (MT6757CD) chipset, along with 6GB of RAM and will not boot 8.0 Oreo out of the box , but the outdated Android 7.0 Nougat . Tecno.. Why? Why should a new device boot Nougat when Oreo has been released, I'm quite unimpressed with this. However it may be updated later before the official launch so you can keep your fingers crossed and wait. The only thing I'm actually worried about here is the price for such a device. Tecno's 4GB RAM devices cost around N90,000-N110,000. This time it's 6GB RAM and only God knows how much they'll sell this device for. Probably around N180,000. I hope it won'...

Dubai awards contract for final phase of solar park

Visitors look at screens displaying images of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park on March 20, 2017, at the solar plant in Dubai The Gulf desert emirate of Dubai on Saturday announced the award of a $3.8-billion contract for the final phase of a solar park aimed at generating 5,000 megawatts of electricity by 2030. The local government said the contract for the fourth and final phase went to Chinese conglomerate Shanghai Electric and ACWA Power of Saudi Arabia. The solar park named after Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al-Maktoum, went online in 2013 and the final phase is to be launched in stages from 2020, bringing the overall cost to $13.6 billion. Dubai, which has dwindling oil reserves unlike Abu Dhabi, a fellow member of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), ha...

Artificial 'skin' gives robotic hand a sense of touch

Image
Researchers from the University of Houston have reported a breakthrough in stretchable electronics that can serve as an artificial skin, allowing a robotic hand to sense the difference between hot and cold. Credit: University of Houston A team of researchers from the University of Houston has reported a breakthrough in stretchable electronics that can serve as an artificial skin, allowing a robotic hand to sense the difference between hot and cold, while also offering advantages for a wide range of biomedical devices. The work, reported in the journal Science Advances , describes a new mechanism for producing stretchable electronics, a process that relies upon readily available materials and could be scaled up for commercial production. Cunjiang Yu, Bill D. Cook Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering and lead author for the paper, said the work is the first to create a semiconductor in a rubber composite format, designed to allow the electron...

supernova analysis reframes dark energy debate

Image
The difference in the magnitudes of supernovae in the ?CDM and Timescape cosmologies and the magnitudes the supernovae would appear to have in an empty universe (horizontal dashed line). Both models show recent apparent acceleration following earlier deceleration. In the Timescape model this is not a real effect, however, and the curve is flatter than the ?CDM case. Credit: Lawrence Dam, Asta Heinesen and David Wiltshire The accelerating expansion of the Universe may not be real, but could just be an apparent effect, according to new research published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society . The new study -- by a group at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand -- finds the fit of Type Ia supernovae to a model universe with no dark energy to be very slightly better than the fit to the standard dark energy model. Dark energy is usually assumed to form roughly 70% of the present material content ...

Top 50 innovations in agricultural engineering

This month Resource magazine, the official publication of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), published its list of the top 50 innovations in agricultural engineering for 2013.  This annual awards contest, called AE50, recognizes “products and technologies deemed to bring clear advancements to the marketplace, such as improved efficiency and user safety, and reduced labor and costs.” Entries are judged by an international panel of agricultural engineers. (Note: Farm Industry News has a similar contest, called FINOvation , but our contest covers a wider scope of products and is judged by our farmer-readers.) In the early years of AE50, circa 1984, most of the innovations focused on the metal. However, ASABE executive director Darrin Drollinger notes a strong showing of information and electronic technologies among the year’s standouts. “The winning products this year focus heavily on controls, electronics, management systems, adva...

How to charge your phone without Nepa or power bank

How to Charge Your Phone without Electricity tori.ng Sep 11, 2017 12:58 PM A backup battery pack is the safest and easiest way for charging without power as other solutions include a hand crank, solar panels and a wind turbine.   Here in Nigeria, it is not uncommon for residents of cities and towns to go without electric power for days. This leaves phone users with many hours unable to get across to their loved ones and business partners.  Though the pump price of fuel is said to have dropped by N2 from N145 per litre to N143, many phone users in the country still can’t afford fuelling their power generating devices because of the economic situation in the country.    The question most people keep asking is how to keep their phone fully charged without having to rely on electricity.  Here are the answers: From battery packs, solar panels and hand cracks, there are dozens of ways to charge your phone without using a typical charger, ac...
